The F.B.I. receives over 2000 missing child reports every day.
If your child is missing, what would you rather be doing:
You need an accurate and immediate description of your child. You might not be able to rely on your memory in such an emergency and a photo, video or ID kit kept at home will be of no use. Authorities and others need identification before they can take action finding your child.

![]() The Arkansas State Police serves as the coordinating law enforcement agency in Arkansas to alert the public of missing or abducted children. The Morgan Nick Alert is an emergency plan to spread the word when a child is abducted. It was developed by local and state law enforcement agencies, the FBI and the news media. It utilizes the Internet, e-mail, government communication channels and broadcast stations to alert the public. Such notification within the first few minutes of an abduction greatly increases a child’s chance of being rescued, authorities say. In addition to written information, a child’s picture can be instantly sent over the communications network, adding to the effectiveness of the alert. The key to fully using the Morgan Nick Alert is to photograph children with a digital camera, which stores the picture on a computer disk. The disk is then given to the parents for safekeeping. Should the child be abducted or become lost, the parents can give the disk to police, who electronically relay it to other law enforcement agencies and broadcast stations. The child’s picture can be all over the state in minutes. A copy of the state's Amber Alert policy can be obtained from this link. ARKidsID conducts I.D. If your child disappears when you are away from home -- at a shopping center or mall for example -- notify the manager of the store and the security office. Request assistance in finding your child. Then telephone the police immediately!
If the child is missing from home, begin by thoroughly searching the house. Be sure to check any place a child could crawl, hide, and possibly fall asleep. Alert friends, neighbors and relatives. Organize a search for the child as quickly as possible.
Check the child's favorite play areas. Have someone check these areas again.
Request that your child be immediately entered into the National Crime Information Center's (NCIC) Missing Person File. This will assist other law enforcement agencies in identifying your child if they are located in another community. Contact the Arkansas Missing Children Services Program. You may contact the program by calling 1-800-448-3014 (Arkansas only) or (501) 682-1020.
